Welcome to our Inn
We are John and Gwawr Denley, owners of the Salutation Inn for the past 12 years.
Gwawr is a local Welsh girl and was born just a stone's throw from the Salutation Inn at Cilgwyn, 2 miles from the Inn on the slopes of Carningli Mountain above Newport. She has lived and worked in the area all of her life. Gwawr is an excelent source of local knowlege and can offer friendly advice on places to visit around Pembrokeshire.
I (John) am a well seasoned chef and moved to Pembrokeshire some forty five years after gaining my qualifications as a chef in Birmingham. I worked in many restaurants building my portfolio before working for nearly 20 years in north Africa and the Middle East, serving up some great food as I travelled around the two areas.
Returning to UK in 1991 I worked self employed in the licensed and food industry before aquiring the Salutation Inn in 2000.
We are well known locally and were deputy Mayor and Mayoress of nearby Newport, Pembrokeshire during 2003 to 2004 and again from 2006 to 2008. We also were Mayor and Mayoress of Newport from 2004 to 2006.
As a result we have aquired and excellent first hand knowlege of this area and are most happy to assist you during your stay with us to make sure you get the most from your time at the Salutation Inn.
